Our team of dietitians provides the Human-in-the-Loop (HitL) safety layer and continuously trains and improves the capabilities of our DietaryAI. The team checks the available ingredient and allergen information for each menu item on our platform so that you can dine out stress-free! Every menu you see has had a pair of dietitian eyes review it.

However, not every menu comes with complete information, so it’s important to understand how we have distinguished the two levels of dietitian interaction:

Dietitian Verified Venue

For those with food allergies or intolerances, we recommend “dietitian-verified” venues,  where our dietitian team has reviewed a complete list of ingredients, allergens, and recipes. 

Each listing’s “venue info” section provides further details about kitchen setup, food safety, preparation, and allergen protocols as they are made available by the venue.
While we strive for accuracy, we don’t prepare the food, so diners should always inform staff of their allergies. “Dietitian Verified Venue” appears in green on listings, and users can filter for these venues in the Foodini app or web app.

Dietitian Screened Venue

‘Screened Restaurants’ are reviewed by our dietitian team using publicly available information but we can’t confirm whether the listed ingredients are complete. If details are

unclear, our DietaryAI references thousands of generic recipes to fill in missing ingredients and assume expected allergens as a precaution.

This cautious approach may flag some dishes as unsuitable, prioritizing safety. Diners with allergies or intolerances should always inform the restaurant staff before ordering, especially for unverified menu items.

My name is Jen, I’m a dietitian with a Masters of Nutrition & Dietetics. I have worked in a number of settings including aged care, men’s health, bariatric and private practice, which has ultimately led me to specialize in the space of allergies, intolerances and specialty diets.

I was Foodini’s very first employee and now lead a fantastic team of dietitians. I have been closely involved in developing the Foodini DietaryAI solution since the beginning. It is rewarding to solve the issues surrounding personal dietary needs, especially when it comes to eating out.

But it is even more exciting to think about the opportunities ahead of us. Our DietaryAI technology, dietitian team, and data allow us to evolve our solution, include more diet types, and help power the wider food service ecosystem!
